Eye-Fi: Add WiFi to your digital camera


Digital cameras equipped with wireless internet (WiFi) capabilities are are nothing new, with several major manufacturers such as Nikon, Canon or Kodak offering the feature as a means of uploading photos to the web on the go. So far these cameras were pretty expensive and there was no way to add WiFi capability to older cameras. The good news now comes from a small Silicon Valley-company called Eye-fi which has developped a Wi-Fi enabled SD card with built-in memory. Read more

Latest Pixelmonster: Kodak joins 12-Megapixel club


It was just a matter of time that once dominating photo pionier Kodak would join the exclusive 12-megapixel, ISO 3200 clubs for compact cameras in one shot.

Following many recent 12-megapixel camera announcements, Kodak today unveiled its own compact camera of the kind. Besides a 12-megapixel sensor, the new Z1275 camera features a 2.5-inch LCD screen, 5x optical zoom and ISO sensitivity up to 3200 (at 3.1 MP or lower).

Moreover, the Z1275 offers HD video recording at 1280 by 720 pixels. Memory cards are required to be bought separately though, as the camera’s internal memory only holds a couple of minutes of HD video. Read more

iSonic Snapbox: Biggest ripp-off ever

Amazon.com just discounted the iSonic Snapbox DC501 5.19-Megapixel Digital Camera to $99. That is in fact 400% off the original sticker price of $499. What sounds like a very sweet deal for a five Megapixels (with the Hardware upgrade even seven Megapixels) digital camera that can also record videos, has a catch: The camera simply sucks. Amazon.com reviewers even call this pretty ugly looking blue thing “a horrible camera” and the “biggest rip-off camera you could possibly buy”. Read more

Flickr adds new languages

Flickr, one of the world’s leading online photo-sharing communities, just announced they launched flickr.com in seven additional languages. According to the Yahoo-owned company over half of Flickr members already use Flickr in regions outside the United States. The new language support should bring the Flickr community to even more people around the world. Read more
