Casio EX-F1 Reviewed: Monster cam is also a monster in weight, up to 60 shots per second

The F1 is just ideal for capturing life’s unpredictable moments with its high-speed CMOS sensor and LSI processor. Wired reviewed the Casio EX-F1 and described it as a “speed-demon snapper”.
The good: Divvy up those 60 shots per second in multiple ways: 30 shots per second for two seconds, 20 for three seconds, and so on. Mini-HDMI jack makes for sexy F1/HDTV pairing. Pre-record mode means you’ll capture moments you thought you had missed.
The bad: 12x zoom is slower than a three-toed sloth with an Ambien addiction. Crappy low-light performance only partially forgiven by the camera’s zippy flash. No optical eyepiece so you’ll have to rely on the tiny electronic viewfinder. Flash doesn’t work in pre-record mode. $1000 may seem steep for such scant megapixels. Cannot capture sound while recording high-speed video.
The bottom line: Despite all these great features, the EX-F1 is admittedly a flawed speed demon. It’s weight and large lens makes it difficult to bring to events. There are also a handful of missing elements that probably keep the F1 from being considered a truly professional-grade camera.
Price: Starting at $1,000.
