More than 18 Million Members Worldwide Gain Mobile Access to World’s 4th
Most-Trafficked Social Networking Website
Mobile Launch is First Contribution of Hi-Media’s Acquisition of Mobile
Trend
NEW YORK, July 1 /PRNewswire/ — Fotolog (http://www.fotolog.com), the 4th
most-trafficked social network in the world(1), announced today the
worldwide launch of its mobile service. Fotolog’s mobile service –
accessible at m.fotolog.com — will enable the site’s community of more
than 18 million member accounts in more than 200 countries around the world
to access Fotolog.com using any phone’s mobile browser.
“Taking one of the world’s largest and most-active social networks to
the mobile Internet is very exciting,” said Cyril Zimmermann, CEO of
Fotolog’s parent company, Hi-Media Group. “Fotolog members get a powerful
tool that fits the way they live and communicate, while we take another big
step toward our vision of providing integrated online media solutions
spanning publishing, advertising, payments and mobile solutions.”
Fotolog’s mobile service allows members to use their phones to upload
photos to their personal Fotolog pages, see who is posting messages to
their guest books and leave messages for their friends. The service is
available in seven languages including English, French, German, Portuguese,
Spanish, Swedish and Dutch.
The launch of Fotolog’s mobile service is the first major milestone
after the acquisition of the French mobile internet and SMS payments
specialist, Mobile Trend, by Hi-Media, which was announced on June 24, 2008
http://www.hi-media.com/visu_uk/corporate/080625.php. The acquisition,
which marked Hi-Media’s entry into the multi-media mobile Internet market,
enables the company to:
— strengthen the leadership of Hi-Media’s Allopass micropayments
business, Europe’s number one micro-payments network;
— expand the presence in the emerging mobile advertising market of
Europe’s third-largest online advertising network, Hi-Media Network;
— and, integrate mobile solutions into the web properties of Hi-Media
Publishing, one of the world’s top-100 web publishers, while developing
stand- alone mobile sites.
“The Mobile Trend acquisition was strategic and will create value
across Hi-Media Group for users, partners, shareholders, and employees
worldwide,” said Mr. Zimmermann. “Launching Fotolog’s mobile service
illustrates the power of the integrated model we have created and is just
the first result of many more to come in the mobile arena.”
