Focussing trouble: Panasonic Lumix DMC-L10K reviewed

Panasonic’s latest Digital SLR (DSLR), the Lumix DMC-L10K, has according to Reviewers at Cnet trouble with focusing under low light conditions. Additionally Cnet reports, the super pricy $1300 digital Single-Reflex camera tops out at ISO speeds of 1,600, and its live mode has limited functionality when using most lenses.
Another minus for the latest Panasonic: So far the Lumix DMC-L10K is exclusively available as a kit. Read the full review at Cnet.

Review: FinePix F50fd is downright disappointing

Our dear colleauges at PhotographyBLOG/Engadget just reviewed the latest Fuji FinePix camera, the FinePix F50fd point-and-shoot. The result is crushing: “picture quality is downright disappointing”, says the tech site.

Unfortunately, everybody’s worst fear about the FinePix F50fd seems to be true — according to a recent review over at PhotographyBLOG, anyway. Apparently, stuffing a 12-megapixel sensor into this pocket-friendly digicam wasn’t exactly the most intelligent idea, as reviewers found the picture quality to be downright disappointing. Read more

ReviewWatch: Fujifilm IS Pro DSLR

Our dear colleagues at ReviewBooth just published a review of Fuji’s newest digital SLR, the Fujifilm IS Pro Review. The bottomline: The reviewers call the IS PRO a camera “especially designed to record non-visible light which makes it a perfect camera for law enforcement, scientific, fine art and medical communities.”

The latest Fuji DSLR is expected to be available in the U.S. only. Apparently the company will offer four differnt kits ranging from $2600 (for the body only) and $5000 with the Zeiss 50mm lens f2 with Macro (1:2 ratio).

And, hey, remember, as with all Fuji SLR’s and DSLR’s, this one also takes Nikon lenses - our once and forever favourite lens maker on the planet … :)

Yawn: Canon 1D Mark III rated best camera ever

No surprise: San Francisco-based tech news site Cnet just rated the new Canon 1D Mark III with the Editor’s choice tag. Well, this editorial decision was a pretty easy one: The Canon 1D Mark III is the latest and most advanced professional Digital SLR and with a retail price of $4.500 by far one of the most expensive digital SLR ever made.

Sure, this is ‘the’ professional digital SLR on the market right now, it is just fantastic, allows incredibly fast shooting, has an amazing picture quality, and an absurd number of options which make this one the best SLRs the global photography community has ever seen. No doubt about it, every serious photographer wants this camera.
However, I predict, within 6 to 12 months, Canon’s fiercest competitor, Nikon Corp. will roll out an update to their current top-of-the-line DSLR camera model, the Nikon D2Xs. As for decades, the Canon vs. Nikon head-to-head race to built the best pro SLR will continue and within the
